Editor's Review
I downloaded Crossmath late one night because sleep is weak and apparently so is my willpower. Two hours later I was elbow-deep in tiny numbers, sweating over a diagonal equation (yes, diagonal) and cursing like a chess player who just lost a queen. This isn't some flashy brain toy — it's a tidy math crossword that grabs your attention and doesn't let go. Available on Google Play and the App Store, it looks simple at first. Don't be fooled.
What hits you first is the pacing. Short puzzles that feel satisfying; longer ones that gnaw at you. I got stuck on a Medium grid for a solid 90 minutes (no joke) and then solved it in a five-second flourish because my brain finally decided to cooperate. Features I actually used: Unlimited Undos (bless them), Dark Mode (late-night saver), Large Fonts (my eyes thank you), and the stats tracker that made me oddly proud of my slow crawl up the leaderboard. But hey — it's not perfect. The Endless Mode can feel cheap if you hate unchecked mistakes, and some themed events are clearly made to pull you back in (they work — I blinked and spent an evening chasing badges).
Here’s the meat: Crossmath forces you to think with addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division in crossword form — so logic matters more than speed (most of the time). Power-ups exist and they help, but don’t expect them to carry you through Expert levels. Leaderboards and Daily Challenges give the game teeth; they also remind you that someone, somewhere, is better at math than you (and me). The app respects basic privacy (links to policy and terms in the store page) — not that I read them in full, but the option is there if you’re one of those people who actually reads things.
If you want fireworks or fancy 3D effects, look elsewhere. This isn't for you. But if you want a portable, honest number puzzle that will make you groan, laugh, and feel smug when you finally crack a brutal grid — get it. Try the Daily Puzzle first, then flame out in Endless Mode like I did (and come back tomorrow). Questions? Tell me which level wrecked you — I’ll tell you which one wrecked me (and maybe a hint or two, if you promise not to beat my leaderboard score).
