Editor's Review
Hole it puzzle game hit my phone at 2 AM and I didn’t put it down until my thumb went numb. No kidding. This is not another mindless eat-everything mobile time sink—it's a little black hole with rules, personality, and the nerve to make you think. I got stuck on Level 12 for nearly two hours (hand sweaty, muttering at my screen). That felt good. That felt earned.
Mechanics are simple to learn: drag to move, eat only the mission items, grow, repeat—but don’t be fooled. Some levels want you to ignore shiny junk. Don’t eat the donuts unless they’re on the list. Don’t gobble every car. Sounds obvious? It isn’t. The game teases you with colorful, oddly adorable maps where one wrong chomp ruins everything. There are boosters (time, size) and mission types—collect red cars, eat only donuts, clear specific objects—that keep the puzzles feeling fresh. Controls? One-finger, slick-ish, but the camera can be a jerk sometimes (honest gripe).
What I loved: the rush when a plan clicks and the board clears (pure little victory). The art is bright and cheerful, levels are handcrafted, and the “only eat what matters” twist forces actual problem-solving. What I didn’t love: occasional ad interruptions and a few levels that feel fiddly rather than clever. Also, I couldn't find clear info on whether offline play is supported—so, heads-up: don’t assume you’ll be ad-free without paying. (If you know otherwise, tell me.)
Tips from my late-night grind: 1) Scan the whole level before you move—this is not a twitch game. 2) Use boosters early on tight maps. 3) If you get greedy, restart—there’s no shame in that. I also recommend playing with sound on for that weirdly satisfying munch noise—it helps time your moves.
Bottom line: Hole it! is playful, occasionally maddening, and oddly addictive. It's not for someone who wants instant leaderboard glory—this is for puzzle people, the ones who like planning more than chaos. Available on iOS and Android (App Store and Google Play). Want me to pull ad/IAP details or a level-by-level walkthrough next? Say the word—I've got notes (and sore thumbs).
